Terms of Service

Effective date: July 25, 2026

These terms govern your use of invosmith.com ("Invosmith", "we", "us"). By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

1. What Invosmith is

Invosmith provides a free, browser-based tool for creating invoices and estimates, which you can download as PDF files. Optional account and Pro features add saved records, delivery, tracking, recurring invoices and AI-assisted intake as described on the site and in our Privacy Policy.

2. Legitimate use only

Invosmith is for documenting real transactions: goods you actually sold, services you actually provided. You must not use it to:

  • create invoices for goods or services that were not actually provided;
  • misrepresent who you are, who the invoice is from, or what was delivered;
  • deceive or defraud any person, business, or institution, or evade taxes;
  • infringe anyone's rights, including using logos or names you have no right to use.

Creating false invoices may constitute fraud and can carry civil and criminal penalties. You are solely responsible for the documents you create and how you use them. We may block or restrict access to the site by anyone we reasonably believe is using it for fraudulent purposes.

3. Not tax, legal, or accounting advice

Invosmith is a document tool, not an advisor. Nothing on this site — including field labels, default payment terms, template layouts, or FAQ answers — is tax, legal, or accounting advice. Invoice requirements vary by country, state, and industry: which fields are mandatory, how tax must be shown, how long records must be kept. It is your responsibility to ensure the documents you create meet the requirements that apply to you, and to enter the correct amounts, tax rates, and identifiers. When in doubt, consult a qualified professional.

4. Your content, our site

The invoices you create are yours. You keep all rights to the information you enter and the documents you generate, and since they are generated in your browser, we never take possession of them.

The Invosmith site itself — its design, text, code, and branding — belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy, resell, or present the site as your own service. Normal use, including creating unlimited invoices for your business or your clients' billing, is of course welcome.

5. Provided "as is"

Invosmith is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose and error-free operation. We do not guarantee that the site will always be available, that generated documents are free of errors, or that they meet any particular legal or tax requirement. Always review a document before sending it to anyone.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the site — including lost profits, disputes with your clients, tax penalties, or losses caused by errors in documents you created. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim is limited to $100 USD or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

7. Accounts and paid services

Account and paid features may require additional information to provide the service, including business settings, saved documents and billing records. Prices, billing intervals and included features are shown before checkout. You may cancel a recurring subscription to prevent its next renewal; cancellation does not retroactively refund a completed billing period except where required by law.

8. Changes to the service and these terms

We may change or discontinue any part of the service at any time. Material changes to paid terms will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
